Lower Manhattan

Lower Manhattan is exactly like you would expect it. In fact, more so. When Lower Manhattan was evacuated, city planners and relief workers did not know what to do with it. But, after they instituted their first change, there were complaints. Not from concerned citizens of New York (they were glad to get help with housing and lower rents), but from tourists who wanted to see China Town and Little Italy. At that moment Manhattan, as it is now, was born. Various Media and Entertainment corps jumped at the idea of having such a large amusement park. Each "classic" area of Lower Manhattan was split into different zones for each corp (usually each of the old neighborhoods is run by two or three different corps. They are run like a bazaar combination of Las Vegas (without the gambling), a theme park and Dinner Theatre. The residents of China Town are actors (many are not even Chinese) that are paid to portray the classic daily grind of China Town. Also, things happen in China Town (and all of the other traditional neighborhoods as well). Not just scheduled routine events either, there is a team of writers working constantly to try to keep things lively, entertaining and believable for Lower Manhattan's visitors.

To get to Lower Manhattan, you must either:

1) Cross a bridge
2) Cross a tunnel
3) Take a subway
4) Take a ferry

In order to do these successfully, you must be a corporate employee and pay the exorbitant entrance fee.

Upper Manhattan

During the "Urban Renewal" brought about by the Nuclear Disaster, many arcologies were constructed and many neighborhoods were completely rebuilt from the ground up. For instance, Harlem is a major research center. Almost no one lives there anymore and almost all of the old landmarks are gone to make way for labs and high-rise arcologies.

The Bronx

The Bronx has adapted to service the corporate hub of Upper Manhattan. Anyone who works for a corp and does not live in Upper Manhattan, probably lives in the Bronx. This is also where most corporate employees go to shop, eat and get away from work. The southern part is well patrolled by corporate security, but the further you get away from Manhattan, the more dangerous the Bronx can become (never becoming a "Combat Zone", but definitely getting into some gray areas.

Brooklyn

Brooklyn has become the greater New York area's industrial center. In fact, if you have an item that is supposed to be made in New York, odds are it was made and shipped in Brooklyn. Brooklyn is a constant bustle of activity, consequently, most people live in the Bronx (they commute via corporate controlled subways mostly).

Queens

The area known as Queens is a demilitarized zone. No one feels safe in Queens, not even the cops. Even the military is on edge when it is there for that matter. The closer you get to Manhattan, the more dangerous Queens becomes.
